Congratulations On Your Pregnancy

To help make things go smoothly during your pregnancy, here is a checklist of things to keep in mind:

You will need to fill out the pre-registration form for Mount Sinai West. Please fill it out by Week 15. If you do not receive an admissions packet by 28 weeks, please notify the front desk.

Please check with your insurance company regarding your coverage for pregnancy. It is the patient’s responsibility to understand what may or may not be covered.

There can be separate charges for laboratory studies, which include pap smears, cultures, blood work, amniocentesis, CVS, and Sequential Screening for Down Syndrome. It is a good idea to know which labs your insurance company has a contract with. We use Mount Sinai, Quest, DCL, Labcorp, Genzyme, NTD and BioReference. Whenever possible, we will attempt to have your lab work done at facilities that have contracts with your insurance carrier. However, when it is not possible to use contracted labs, patients are directly responsible for those charges.

We may need to send tests to specialty laboratories located in Chicago/ Texas/ Wisconsin/ California/ Utah. In those instances, payment is required in advance.

TEST CHECKLIST

FIRST VISIT

• Routine OB Labs/Pap/Urine culture/Urinalysis/Ultrasound.
• Urine will be collected at each prenatal visit.

11.5-13.6 WEEK VISITS

• First Trimester Screening (Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound)
• CVS, if indicated.
• One hour glucose test.

14 WEEK VISIT

• Cervical length until 32wks, as directed by MD.

15-16 WEEK VISITS

• Amniocentesis if indicated.
• Early anatomy ultrasound survey.
• AFP Quad screen.
• If you require fetal fibronectin (FFN) please check with your insurance carrier to confirm coverage.

21-22 WEEK VISITS

• Follow-up anatomy ultrasound survey.
• Fetal echocardiogram as directed by MD.

22 WEEK VISIT

• Fetal Fibronectin (FFN) until 32weeks, as directed by MD.

24 WEEK VISIT

• Growth scan for multiples gestations every four weeks.
• FFN

26 WEEK VISIT

• FFN
• Ask about Childbirth Prep classes.

28 WEEK VISIT

• Growth scan
• FFN
• Rhogam for Rh negative
• One hour diabetic screen
• CBC

30 WEEK VISIT

• FFN

32 WEEK VISIT

• Growth scan if directed by MD.
• Biophysical Profile (BPP) if directed by MD.

34 WEEK VISIT

• Group B Strep (GBS) vaginal culture for multiple gestations, or h/o preterm labor/preterm delivery.

36 WEEK VISIT

• Growth scan/BPP if directed by MD.
• GBS culture if not done earlier.

40 WEEK VISIT

• Growth scan
• Fluid check (AFI)
• Biophysical Profile (BPP) as indicated.
