MFMA has a team of experienced Registered Nurses on staff to respond to patient questions and concerns in-between office visits. These highly skilled professionals are available to answer a variety of questions including:
The nurses are available by phone during normal business hours. Phone calls are triaged and responded to in priority order. However, all calls are answered within 24 hours. Physicians are available by telephone only in cases of extreme emergency. Patients who require in-depth conversation with a physician should make an appointment to come into the office. With rare exceptions, the MFMA physicians do not perform telephone consultations due to their limited availability to do so. In the event of an extreme emergency after office hours such as illness, bleeding, or the onset of labor, patients should phone the answering service and leave a message for the physician on-call. If you have Caller ID on your phone and leave an after-hours emergency message with the answering service for a physician to call you, please make sure you temporarily lift the block on your phone so that it will accept private calls. Physicians frequently return calls from either their cell or home phones and will not publish those phone numbers. Therefore, if you do not remove the block from your phone, the physician will not be able to return your call.
